Electricity prices explained
Is this the price I pay on my bill?
No — these are wholesale day-ahead spot prices (EUR/MWh). Your final bill also includes grid fees, taxes, VAT and your supplier's margin. They matter most if you're on a dynamic or spot-linked tariff.
Why is electricity cheaper at some hours?
Prices follow supply and demand hour by hour. They usually drop overnight and when there's lots of wind or solar, and rise during morning and evening peaks. Shifting heavy usage to the cheap hours is where the savings are.
How can I use this to save money?
Run high-power appliances — washing machine, dishwasher, EV charger — during the cheapest window shown above. Our
