Power Grid Idle Game
Power Grid is a free idle game from VoltToday, the site with live European electricity prices. Repair your first generator, then build eight kinds of power stations, from a single solar panel to a fusion reactor, and watch your energy grid grow, even while you are away.
How to play
- Repair the generator. Click the broken bolt until it works again.
- Buy power stations. They make power, and power is sold for Volt Coins every second.
- Buy upgrades. Each one doubles the output of a station type or makes your clicks stronger.
- Catch demand spikes and finish goals for extra coins and income boosts.
- Modernize the grid to start over with Green Certificates, a permanent bonus.
Power stations
- Solar Panel: cheap and quick; sunny weather helps, clouds and rain hold it back.
- Wind Turbine: strong on windy hours, stopped by storms.
- Hydro Dam: makes the most when it rains.
- Gas Plant and Geothermal Plant: steady power in any weather.
- Offshore Wind Farm: a big step up, still loves the wind.
- Nuclear Plant: a serious milestone of any grid.
- Fusion Reactor: the most powerful station in the game.
Questions
Is Power Grid free to play?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser on a phone or a computer.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, automatically, in this browser. To move a game to another device, use Copy save code in the settings and import it there.
Does my grid earn coins while I am away?
Yes. Your stations keep working while the game is closed, at a reduced speed, for several hours. You collect the coins when you come back.
What are Green Certificates?
When your grid has earned enough, you can modernize it: coins, stations and upgrades start over, and you get Green Certificates that permanently boost output and clicks.
What is a demand spike?
Now and then a Demand spike button appears over the bolt for a few seconds. Catch it to double your income for a while or to get a lump of coins.
Is the weather the same for everyone?
Yes. The weather changes every hour and is the same for every player: sunny hours help solar panels, windy ones wind turbines, rainy ones hydro dams.
